The Super Fun Activity guidebook included not only easy-to-follow instructions on how to build your glider with the included materials, but also included flight notes where children can record their design ideas, a data collection form where children document the distance and landing of their various designs, and "super fun stuff" which provided space for children to draw creative ideas related to flight and creative thoughts of a kid with superpower (e.g. What do kids with Superpower eat for breakfast?). To my delight, my children were most interested in designing and experimenting with different types of wings for their glider, and with measuring and recording their observations.

The other thing that I liked was the inclusion of a parent guide that links the fun activity with the educational benefits. It was interesting to read about the growth mindset and grit and how it relates to outcomes such as motivation, achievement, and grades (e.g. math/spelling). Superpower academy also gives parents tips on ways that they can promote and encourage the development of a growth mindset and grit within their children. After opening and going through the instructions, the children spent nearly two hours experimenting with various glider designs and recording their observations. They were engaged in critical and creative thinking while at the same time thinking that their mom had given them the day off. Win-win!

Subscription boxes are all the rage, so it can be hard to sift out which ones are truly a win. When my kids met up with their Superpower Academy boxes, we were wowed! These at-home kits deliver hands-on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) projects that encourage a growth mindset and social and emotional learning right to your door. The box of reading and maker activities is such a cool way to support the concepts promoted at my kids’ school. A letter/magazine is also sent to parents to help explain the purpose and use of the boxes!

This morning was one of our best mornings. I was patient, he was interested. We used our Superpower academy box to talk about emotions, learn about Gandhi and how to make different colors by mixing primary colors. It was AWESOME!! So many great ways to teach our kids and he loves these subscription boxes for sure.

The box was full of fun reading materials and hands on projects (DIY glider) to really push the lesson home. A few fun bonus items included branded stickers and washi tape that were huge hits!

SAVE THE TREES
"SAVE THE TREES" - This box was inspired by Dr. Seuss' "The Lorax." Macho Mike and his friends come across a T-Rex in the woods and start a war with the big beast. But, Mike feels something isn’t right and uses his superpowers to discover the truth. Amidst the chaos, no one notices the trees in the background who are getting stomped and chomped! Trees have no “voice” to speak up for themselves. So, little heroes are tasked with the big mission of saving the trees.
